1810 Eternal Federal Urn

For Brent Hull craftsmanship is in the details. No more is this noticeable than in the 1810 Eternal Federal Urn originally inspired by the master builder Samuel McIntire who carved a number of flame urns in the bustling harbor of Salem, Massachusetts around 1800. In truth, the fascination and captivation of the urn goes back to the Classical era. During the Renaissance and Enlightenment as the ancient Greek and Roman societies were being unearthed, it became obvious that the simplest everyday utensils were built with an eye toward a beauty that was the envy of the age. Each urn is painstakingly turned, and then the bows, swags and flame relief are hand-carved.

These well-proportioned pieces are truly designed in the classical manner. The flame is an eternal symbol of life, giving this piece a special sense of hope for tomorrow.
